Frozen time? Traversed?

Patterns developed in time assume space-like properties. They unfold in the time realm, in all their glory, beauty, mystic or whatever other attributes their space developed counterparts assume. Revealed in their minutest depth, traversed along breadth and length, by an advancing, in tick by tick fashion, slit-size line, a horizon that represent the present on a path drawn by, not an arrow of time but instead an arrow of space.

It is intriguing what I came across by following up the literature on the arrow of time. I came upon, the psychological/perceptual arrow of time, described as culturally determined. For example, the Chinese and the Aymara people both associate (ahead = past) and (behind = future).

It is mentioned in this website that

"New analysis of the language and gesture of South America's Native Aymara people indicates a reverse concept of time."

and

"Contrary to what had been thought a cognitive universal among humans -- a spatial metaphor for chronology, based partly on our bodies' orientation and locomotion, that places the future ahead of oneself and the past behind -- the Amerindian group locates this imaginary abstraction the other way around: with the past ahead and the future behind."

It mentions also

"There are also in English ambiguous expressions like "Wednesday's meeting was moved forward two days."

and the question arises

"Does that mean the new meeting time falls on Friday or Monday?"

and the answer is

"Roughly half of polled English speakers will pick the former and the other half the latter."

explained as

"And that depends, it turns out, on whether they're picturing themselves as being in motion relative to time or time itself as moving."

Picture themselves in motion relative to time, as opposed to time itself as moving? Motion relative to time? Time is not moving? Time is traversed? Frozen time? And picture themselves as moving along frozen time?

In my mind I see that as an imprint of time and space reality in the human mind. A reality where the following suggestion holds

"This suggests that space and time are inversely proportionate, literally, space would be the inverse of time."

Space being the inverse of time, and vice-versa. By having such a relation, does it not imply that time and space share similar qualities? In the manner described above? Which the human mind is aware of? It becomes aware by virtue of the construction of the brain mentioned in 'Chapter 8.3 Supercausality and the Representation of Time in the Cortex', in 'Fractal Neurodynamics and Quantum Chaos : Resolving the Mind-Brain Paradox Through Novel Biophysics', of Chris King Mathematics and Statistics Department University of Auckland, and in 'Fractals Of Brain, Fractals of Mind , Advances in Consciousness Research 7, by John Betjamins

"The relationship between the frontal lobes and the rest of the cortex appears to involve representations of activities integrating future states [intentions] into time-directed actions based on past experiences [memories]. The frontal lobes generalize motor acts into associations in a similar manner to the sensory association areas in the rest of the cortex. Thus the frontal cortex may generate a spatially distributed representation of time in terms of the organization of both remembered and planned actions spanning the past and future, utilizing oscillatory phase relations as seen in EEG and evoked potential studies, possibly in the 40Hz mode suggested by Crick & Koch (1990)."

Frontal cortex generating spatially distributed representation of time spanning the past and future?

Superposition of states?

Superposition of states? What does it actually mean? Is it about discreet states? Existing as such clearly defined from one another? Or, in reality potential states? States that can materialise if the conditions are amenable for their existence? Existing primarily as fuzzy states, not fully materialized? With no defining boundaries, delimiting their existence?

As, a state can be instantiated by clearly defined, precise values in the determining variables and parametres, in a superposition of states such clear definition do not exist. Variables and parametres are defined only as ranges of values, that can, in any time be assumed. Ranges of values determined by local conditions under the constraints of the current global context. As what determines the state of the local system are the ranges of values of the local variables and parametres, inherent within a number of possible states, hence a superposition of states.

And a single delimiting state is picked out, as the range of values narrows when interaction or observation occurs.

Reversing time and space. Assuming time with space qualities and space with time qualities.

In the 'Social Structures and Chaos Theory',(1998) publication, the author R. D. Smith, contemplated upon the occurrence of pattern in the Lorenz attractor graph

"Even the briefest glance at the graph of the Lorenz attractor will produce the sense that a pattern is clearly present. The fact that 'chaos' is involved in producing it does not remove the feeling that something 'macro' is going on."

and

"This is the position taken by complexity theorists (eg. Kauffman, 1995) who insist (as Durkheim did a century ago) that large-scale stochastic regularities can be empirically shown to 'exist' and can be analysed as such."

Something 'macro' is going on? Even if, as the fact is, chaos is involved? How that thought can be interpreted? Something 'macro' which it should be something along the lines of 'global'. Or something else is driving it, powering it. Something along the lines of quantum mechanics, not collapse, but what is seen in the double-slit experiment (interesting video animation). Each individual quantum entity knows where to hit the screen so at the end an interference pattern appears. The emergence of pattern as the overriding principle? That each unit knows, or may not be each unit knows, but the pattern is already there, exists beyond time.

Need to reconceptualize time? Think of past present future, as one unit, think of time as a block? Which the back-end is regarded as the past the front-end the future and somewhere in-between the present. Something along the lines of Minkowski light cones?

In the double-slit experiment the time should be regarded as a chunk, in its entire length, time in space-like dimensions, as being determined, unfolded by virtue of its initial conditions, which once chosen, immediately establish a practically a-temporal pattern. Time is treated like space in the quantum world. An arrow of time traverses the pattern's length in the same manner a carriage traverses space. Frozen time?

And why this pattern is disrupted when the experimenter decides to put a detector in the double slit to observe from which slit each quantum goes through? Merely a change in the initial conditions? The altered initial conditions do not produce an interference pattern? What to act, as a particle or as a wave. Particle having as a more prevalent component space? And wave, its most prevalent component time? So an attempt to detect (takes place in the space realm), favour the space component and therefore the quantum entity behave as a particle? No detection attempt favour the time component and therefore quantum entity behave as a wave?

A realm where waves rule? As opposed to a realm where particles rule? Our realm. And in the realm where waves rule, they are attributed by space-like features? They have length breadth depth, they cover surface and occupy volume? And quantum mechanical entities are residents in both realms? Or, more precisely, they build both realms alike? The building blocks for space and time simultaneously? For a universe of space right next to a universe of time separated by a thin horizontal or vertical slit, we call present?

How would it be, if we could physically move in time and stand still as space passes by before us? A time universe expanding as space? The time realm inhabited by sentient beings traversing its continuum as space is changing it, in steps equivalent to the ticks in the clock, in our realm? Where the experimenter that decides to put a detector in the double slit experiment, produces an interference pattern instead of the two thin ribbons of light, if he doesn't?

Where time machines are the mode of travel whereas space-machines, our cars, are still a big puzzle, an insurmountable problem for the inhabitants.

Them occupying the time realm and us the space realm. But in a reciprocal relationship, oblivious of one another, as what connects us and what separates us, is an extremely narrow slit.

Time on which you walk on. Recognize patterns already formed, replicas of the patterns that unfold in space? Where quantum mechanical entities, by virtue of the wave nature traced their full length, which human individuals tread painstakingly.

Quanta being equal in either realm?

Patterns that unfold for each set of initial conditions, like branching trees.

Toying with the idea of wave packet

I read in John Gribbin's, "Q is for Quantum. Particle physics from A to Z", entry for wave packet

"The essential requirement to make a wave packet that is located in a small space is to use many waves of different wavelengths, chosen so that they interfere with one another in such a way that they cancel out everywhere outside the wave packet, and reinforce one another inside the wave packet."

As the author explains, the wave packet is a train of waves that is confined within a small region of space, and is an idea that Werner Heisenberg came up with in 1927, in order to reconcile the idea that a quantum entity such as an electron can behave either as a wave or as a particle (wave-particle duality). Heisenberg linked this with the idea of quantum uncertainty.

Therefore by adding many waves with different wavelengths together, you can make a localized wave packet as small as you like.

It is intriguing, contemplating the idea that waves which their origin potentially far away from the localized region where they meet and interfere with other waves in a way, that they are canceled out everywhere outside the localized region giving birth to a dynamic entity, creating existence.

Does that mean that their independent journey stopped in their tracks, halted. Waves locked within the localized region, doomed to travel together, and act as a unit, an undivided whole, waves severed from their origins?

Or the waves are constantly in touch, always respond to their originating sources, dynamically rearranging their state, never idle? A state, its quantum state of variables determined by its interactions with other like-minded or different quantum entities or even observation? Observation by an inquiring mind?

Quantum states, the attractors built out of the dynamic engagement of the interfering waves? Chaotically driven utterly dynamic motion infused in phase space, broadly determined by the parametres of spin charge, its place in an including structure, wholly occupied, explored? And in the given moment of interaction or observation the allure of the stable attractor irresistible, becomes the focus point to effect the transaction?

To nullify the influence of the observer.

Let us skip the intro and get down to business. Each individual, by virtue of the observation act, is responsible for the decoherence from its superposition of states, of the wavefunction of another individual. The observing individual's own state, is the product of its state of mind as defined by evaluating the prevailing variables and parametres in the surrounding environment and of its own place and the place of other individuals in that environment, and affects its observation act. There is focus in its observation and that focus affects what state will be chosen to decohere out of the the superposed states of the individual under observation.

In a few words, the result is that the observed individual will act as expected by the observing individual. This action, (my thoughts driven by pure intuition alone), is determining for the observed individual, to the point that it will act in ways that contradict its own character and personality traits. An uncanny and unexplained influence and it will be, a sort of, conduct unbecoming. The observed individual will not act in ways that itself adheres to and influences, almost every aspect of the observed individual's behaviour from physical, emotional, psychological. It would not be himself or herself, but what the observing individual expects the observed individual to act as.

Therefore, the need to nullify the influence of the observer. That can be done by another act of observation, this time from the part of the observed individual to the observing individual. This observation act should commence, after the individual regains its composure and asserts itself from the influence of its decohering observer. This can be done, when the variables and parametres, imposed upon by the influencing observing individual, are effectively rearranged to reflect the essential features of personality and character of the observed individual. And this time the observed individual will be the determining factor in the decoherence out of the superposition of states of the observing individual of a state under the terms of the observed individual, revising the variables and parametres of the transaction.

Otherwise, in the case of non-effective re-arrangement of the variables and parametres the first observed individual will continue to act as the observing individual dictates.
